So I woke up this morning thinking about South America. There are lots of fly fisherman saving their pennies to get down to Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego to catch fish of a life time. Well, from 2005 to 2007 I had the amazing opportunity to live in South America, Uruguay specifically. While I was there for reasons other than fishing, I was able to get out occasionally to wet a line. I made my own (very crude) bamboo rod and caught some little catfish and what the locals claimed was some sort of piranha. Never anything trophy worthy, but I think you all understand how just being out there sometimes does the trick.
I had the opportunity to make some great friends and have awesome experiences. One person was particularly special because he became my fishing buddy. Jorge was a lot of fun to be around and to get to know. We made this funny video with him to demonstrate how the typical “Uruguayo” (pronounced: Oodooguaisho) approaches the game of fishing. Enjoy!

I made these videos for my family so they could see what I was up to in Uruguay. As you can see we had a great time.
This set of videos is a little out of the norm but I thought it would be a fun opportunity for you to get to know a little bit more about me. If you have any questions about my adventures in Uruguay or you want to know more about fly fishing, feel free to email me or comment below.
